On Friday, Jamie Lynn Spears posted on her Instagram story in defense of her sister, Britney Spears. This follows the release of The New York Times documentary as part of its newest installment of the New York Times Presents series for FX and Hulu, Framing Britney Spears. The film follows Britney’s conservatorship, or the legal right other people—namely her father, Jamie Spears—have over her life and finances.
“Dear media, try not to repeat the mistakes of your past,” Jamie Lynn wrote on her Instagram story, per Entertainment Tonight. “Look where that got us. Do better. Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.”
She also added to her story to clear up rumors that she was at a #FreeBritney virtual rally.
“A few media outlets ran a false story about me attending a virtual rally yesterday,” she wrote. “In fact, someone represented themselves as me without my knowledge. I love my sister very much, but I was not aware of a rally, nor was I in attendance for a virtual rally. —JLS”
